Generational Blessings and Curses Part 1
Genesis 26:2-5 ESV
And the Lord appeared to him and said, “Do not go down to Egypt; dwell in the land of which I shall tell you. Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you and will bless you, for to you and to your offspring, I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath that I swore to Abraham your father. I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and will give to your offspring all these lands. And in your offspring all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because Abraham obeyed my voice and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.”
One thing that stood out for me is; God said to Issac, Abraham obeyed my voice and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes and my laws.
Do you believe that your actions right now can impact the future of your children? Do you believe that your parents' choices have an impact on how you turned out to be today or in the future?
I have spoken to friends in the past who wished their grandparents had left them certain inheritances, just like how some British grandparents leave fortunes for their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Isn’t this nice?
It's not normal to celebrate when a loved one dies, but many of us will rejoice if a sizeable inheritance is left for us. This inheritance, especially from grandparents, show that they worked hard thinking of generations to come.
Now that we have some level of understanding, do you believe in generational blessings? Do you believe in generational curses?
Some things happen in our lives and we hear that they also happened to our parents in the past, and even down to our grandparents. It's as if something is causing every generation to experience the same thing at a certain stage in life over and over again.
I'm sure you have many questions right now, especially after reading today's article. We will be sharing part 2 of this article next, so look out for it.
